Teaching Gems is a searchable database of over 1000 of the most engaging, interactive animations, tutorials, learning games, virtual labs and demonstrations freely accessible on the Internet in a wide range of academic subjects.   Registration is not required to view any of these websites, but those who register have the option of adding links to their own favorite interactive sites.   Once you're logged in, the main menu will have extra links. Click on "Submit a Gem" to add your own links. I will also be adding a blog for those who would like to comment or share their supplemental materials to go along with these sites, such as PowerPoints or worksheets.  Search Box - All of these sites are categorized with keywords starting with the most general term to the most specific. Start your search with the most specific term. If what you're looking for gets no hits, then try a more general term. By default, newest links are listed at the top, but you can change these options on the search box. You can also browse by subject, but when browsing all new links are listed at the end of the list.  About these Sites - Most of these sites require Flash player, Shockwave, and/or Java script. I usually never include anything requiring more than just those 3, but on occasion, if I find a site that is just too valuable not to list, I will let you know that an extra plug-in is necessary. Most browsers already have Flash, and you will be prompted to download Shockwave and Javascript plug-ins as soon as you view a site that requires them. Once you work through a few sites, you won't need to download anymore plug-ins again.
